Much like you see in the movies high school is the best and worst time of your life. It is the time for learning, loving, making mistakes, and making memories. Over the past three and half years I have met some of the most incredible people in my life and I have grown more and more every single day.
Nobody is going to care about who you were in high school.
Who you want to be is so much more important and WHAT you love is even more important. After high school you can be whoever you want to be, and have a completely fresh start.
Out in the real world, the world doesn't end if you miss a party or wear the wrong shoes to class. In high school we spend about seven hours in complete routine, a routine we have practically memorized after all these years. In college, our day won't be 8am to 3pm and our parents won't be there to push us out of bed in the morning.
One thing people don't realize after high school is over is that high school is WHO YOU ARE. People will forget what you have done and the world will go on. Time really does fly when you're having fun and much like high school.. the memories will fade.
What feels like the end of the world.. IS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD. So you and your boyfriend broke up, you didn't win prom queen, you didn't find the prom dress of your dreams, and you got a C in english. GUESS WHAT? life moves the hell on.
It is okay to love high school, and love your friends, and want to spend as much time together as possible.. but when you find yourself completely changing who you are for the sake of those around you, that is when you have lost.
In May, 3.3 million people will graduate from high school. That is 3.3 million people out there in the world feeling just like you.. scared, confused, nervous, excited. Going from their cozy little lives and accomplishing one of the biggest goals in life.
Nathan Scott from One Tree Hill said it the best,
“It’s the oldest story in the world. One day you’re seventeen and planning for someday. And then quietly and without you ever really noticing, someday is today. And that someday is yesterday. And this is your life.”
