Although I have never been in love, I still believe I know what it is. Most of my friends have a boyfriend currently or have in the past. Me however, I do not nor have I & I see absolutely nothing wrong with that. So what? I never had a high school sweetheart or any story book love like that. I have always believed that love finds you, you don't find love, and NO just because I am single in high school I do not think I will die alone. I do find it funny though when people come to me for relationship advice because I have never really had a real relationship. I think people come to me because I am logical, I put two and two together and think before I act.
However being single in high school has taught me one huge lesson: Don't choose your relationship before your friendships. At the end of the day your friends will always be there for you; during a breakup, your friends will be the ones listening to you cry. Because I have been single the last 17 years of my life I have really been able to watch others make all the relationship mistakes I could imagine.
Relationships at this age make it SO easy to rely on others for our happiness and let a relationship cloud their judgement. So I've had a few heartbreaks in the last few years, but I never had the title. And as for anyone else that has not had a relationship in high school - It is OKAY. You are about to go away to college, NOBODY cares if you had the UBER perfect high school love story, and I promise you NOBODY wants to listen to you talk or complain about it.
