HEY so here is a cliche blog post about blogging..
I started my blog in November and it was the scariest thing I ever did. It was something I always wanted to do since I love to write, so I took the opportunity to use social media to my own advantage and get my opinion out there.
Imagine being able to put your words together in more than 150 characters, or in an Instagram bio?! Most people never really learn how to express themselves and my blog has become my way to do so. I have the freedom to post whatever I want weekly, even DAILY if I really wanted to.
Although, the major downfall to blogging is knowing just what to write to really catch peoples attention. I have always loved to write things that others can relate to because that is where my own love for writing began. I often struggle with coming up with the right topics that I both believe and relate to. A huge thing to remember when writing is to try not to offend others. When writing about friends or family, it is crucial to be aware of how your writing can affect others.
Don't get me wrong though, everyone rants or "subtweets" at some point and later realizes that nothing good will ever come out of it.
Blogging is honestly really stressful because you never know what others reactions will be. It is scary when you don't know just how your peers will react to you publicly posting your thoughts. As a girl in high school I was nervous to know what my friends would think or say, but they all were really supportive and it meant so much to me.
Blogging is SO AWKWARD. It is almost like talking to yourself, but really talking to the internet. Oh and grammar is key which I have struggled with to say in the least. It takes longer than you actually expect for people to catch on and really become interested in what you have to say. But here, the real catch is that blogging isn't meant to "make you famous" or "make people like you." Blogging should be personal and not everyone is going to support you, which is okay.
Getting comfortable with writing doesn't happen overnight and it will take a lot of typing and deleting before you finally write something you don't completely hate. It takes time, practice, and lots of confidence.
